Homes and attics require highly efficient and properly installed insulation in order to maximize the efficiency of their heating and cooling systems. We are a five-star rated, trusted, family owned and operated business with a desire to help local homeowners. We are licensed, bonded, and insured offering a complete line of serviced including: attic cleaning, insulation, rodent proofing, sanitation and decontamination.
Step No. 1: Prep Work
The floor leading to your attic access will be covered with protective sheeting. Pictures, furniture and other valuables will be moved to ensure that there is no damage done in any way.
Step No. 2 : Removal of Old Insulation
(blown in or batting)
Step No. 3: Cracks and Gap Sealing
Cracks in your attic can make your home less energy efficient. About 20% of these cracks create unwanted heat flow between conditioned and unconditioned spaces. In the summer, hot attic air can make the rooms warmer. In the winter, cracks draw warm air up into your attic.
By using expanding foam or caulk, we will seal any openings around gaps, cracks, plumbing pipes and electrical wires to prevent future air leaks.
Step No. 4: Exclusion : Sealing Cracks and Holes to Eliminate Rodent Entry Ways
Rats love to live in your attic. These animals are classified as “commensal rodents” because they thrive in association with people. To a roof rat, a house is far better shelter than anything out in the wild. Rats use your attic to establish their nesting areas. Rodents can contort their bodies and can squeeze into very small holes (about the size of a quarter) , or a gap in the architecture (as little as ⅝ thick). They have no problem finding the entry point into your attic.
The general process to get rid of rats in the attic is as follows: First, we thoroughly inspect to find out how the rats are getting inside. Secondly, we seal shut 100% of the entry ways with a metal mesh or steel screen. This prevents from chewing their way through.
Step No. 5: Attic Decontamination
Proper decontamination from rodents in your attic is more difficult than you may think. It is essential to not only remove all visible droppings and debris, but to also address the world of invisible and dangerous fungi, germs, and bacteria that remain even after all visible signs of rodents are gone. This can lead to diseases being harbored and easily spread. Professional attic decontamination measures must be taken to ensure that your home is free from all rodent related health hazards.
Step No. 6: Installing Insulation Recessed Lights
If you are installing insulation near recessed lights, we will use a special cover to create a barrier around these fixtures. If insulation comes in contact with lights it can cause fire.
Step No. 7: Air Duct Repair
Leaking and/or poorly insulated ducts (especially in attics) severely compromise the performance of your heating and cooling equipment . Sealing and insulating your ducts can increase the efficiency by 20%, greatly improving your airflow. We will repair your ducts to eliminate all holes and disconnections.
Step No. 8: New Insulation
Proper insulation installation in your home can dramatically improve your energy saving by making your home more energy-efficient and reduce your heating /cooling costs. Insulation is measured by R-values. This measures insulation’s ability to reduce the rate of heat flow from one space to another (aka thermal resistance). The higher the “R” value, the more efficient the insulation.
Step No. 9: Air Duct Cleaning
We will open every single vent in the home, using the state of the art equipment and brush the system from the inside. This will suck out all the dust, pet dander, skin cells etc. directly into the machine itself, so there is no mess in your house. After we are done deep cleaning, we will sanitize the ducts with a hospital grade sanitizer.
